MNGK Garvey Program

Founded in 2020 MNGK Garvey Program is a nonprofit organization committed to the empowerment of underserved youth and communities in the Chattanooga area. We provide a movement with live music arts enrichment programs in partnerships with participating childcare centers and the community. We provide classes free of charge to families enrolled in participating childcare centers and offer free or low cost capoeira classes within the community.
We serve approximately 100 students weekly for 40 weeks out of the year in our preschool program and 10 people of all ages through Capoeira Chattanooga.

The Preschool Movement and Music program adds value to child care centers with our movement and music program with an innovative class that combines creative dance, tumbling and capoeira which is an essential component of early childhood education.

Participating Childcare Centers are: Blooming Pot Daycare and Learning Center, Champion Christian Learning Academy, Serenity Childcare 2 and Tiny Tigers Learning  Center.

Capoeira Chattanooga is a program of the MNGK (Move N Groove Kidz) Garvey Program non profit that specializes in providing movement and music enrichment in preschools and for all people ages 6 and up. Capoeira Chattanooga is a collective of people who practice the Afro- Brazilain martial art of capoeira led by Chattanooga native Coach Cherokee.

We are grateful to our sponsors- ArtsBuild, Sankofa Fund for Civic Engagement and our individual donors.
